I remember receiving the call from Joel Taylor (CEO of Bethel Music) asking if I would produce this record, and also suggesting Daniel Mackenzie and I produce it together. As a father of 3 daughters, the opportunity to produce a worship album featuring only female worship leaders was quite an honor. In a way it felt like God’s stamp of approval of me as a father, trusting me to be at the helm of such an important project. The capture was not without its challenges as it was in the Redding Civic — I still hear the harsh concrete reverberations throughout the album. But no amount of grey concrete could dampen the vivid beauty of the songs and performances from Jenn, Amanda, Kari, Kristene and others. The album far exceeded the label’s sales expectations — You Make Me Brave became their highest charting, strongest selling album up to that point. Later, the song “You Make Me Brave” would go RIAA Certified Gold in the USA (500k units sold), and “It is Well” would go Platinum (1 Million Sold). Incredible.
